Cupid’s Curse

By Morgan Cope

Why must I be just another victim of Cupid’s curse?

Falling in and out of love.

It could be as deadly as arsenic or as gentle as a dove.

How could it get any worse?

Why must I get pierced by his arrows?

Love hurts enough already.

Why must the pain be so heavy?

Why must it hit me like a thousand sparrows?

What must I do to get rid of this pain?

I have tried my best to get over you.

I have done all I could do.

I’m just surprised that I’m not yet insane.
