You

You

A Poem by RFDIII

You

To hold you,
know you,
to feel you.

I live blessed in your presence.

Our time is
Short and fleeting,
and
Warm and wounding,
but I would rather wound myself upon you
than to go without,
to never caress.

And
Never dare to guess
that our time might have
meaning.
Because
The limitation, I know,
is that you would always have to go
and
meaning never changes the facts.

Yet sometimes I still dare to dream.
Dare to wonder what it'd be
to be with you,
and you with me.
The same ships
in a different sea.
Where I'd love you and
you'd love me.
And
you would hold my bones forever,
While we steered astray.

But that's all a dream...
and for once I don't wonder what it means.
