Drink Me

Drink Me

A Poem by RFDIII

Infuse me with lavender,
hints of jasmine;
Infuse me with stardust
and thoughts in-between.

Steep until dark
until scent springs
anew.

Steep until spirit
and mind
are in tune.

Sweeten with love
and with gentle caress.
Drink me down slow,
and bring warmth to your breast.
Now drum on my bones
bringing songs you’ve behest,
As you hum to yourself, with love.

Coating your tongue with
ambition to move.
Coating your tongue but with
reasons to prove.
Flavors of thought and reason
will prevail,
Though passionate love
is but left after hail.

So sip on my soul
until dawn brings us light.
We’ll rest and console,
refilling for night.
Comb through my hair
with gilt fingers all yours,
And drink me down slow,
So slow.

Fairly incoherent structure and inconsistent metaphors and could do with some inter-contextual allusions to Alice in Wonderland with the title 'Drink me'. Concept of the poem has a great potential however I would suggest revising it personally. That being said there are a few very creative use of structure to emphasise the language, such as the 2 syllabic last line slowing down the pace of the poem as a whole and the full stop which halts it. Good premise decent execution.

If it weren't cryptic it wouldn't be my poetry. Thanks for the advice, though!
