Shadows of Christmas

Shadows of Christmas

A Poem by MomzillaNC

Advent is our Hope against the darkness,

Living into the expectation of Christ.

Who is the Light born to dispel shadows

From the hearts of the People of Advent.

At the center of His holy Nativity are

Shadows of pasts, Crucifixion, and Ascension

In dark of night, from the dark of the stable

Emmanuel, the Light was born at Christmas.

In the shadows of all our Christmases

We see shadows of the past behind us,

And live the present in the shadows of Hope.

In shadows of Hope, look to an eternal future.

I came a bit late but nevertheless it is quite an event to read writings in where some form of beliefs are expressed. As in this writing your beliefs come streaming through. I am not a great fan of changing fonts or trickery at large but I felt that the writing took a more personal feeling in this font. It also brought me back to school, the three kings play, the adorned tree, the nativity scene and altogether the expectation that something is about to happen, which is written clearly. I must confess I don't equate the Christ with the birth of Jesus, which I think it has to do with belief systems at large, I say that because the possibilities granted through the acceptance of The Christ are still very much a thing of mystery if one is to endorse what's written in Christian esotericism books. All that again greatly depicted in your writing.

An invitation to accept an unknown journey.

Thank You.

Thank you.
The greatest season of all and the greatest holiday ever established is the season of Christmas . Though sometimes other holidays tries to dwarf and eclipse the most important of all . Its the only holidays that offers not only joy but hope for the future and for this fallen world . That a child is given to us . With no rank or place . Not even a decent place for Him to be born . And yet He chosef His place and identified Himself among with the outcast and the lowly and lonely ... The second advant is even more glorious and the most anticipated . This time He is coming again not as a meek and helpless child but as a King and Conqueror and agreat Judge . Glad you penned this piece . Its prophetic in thoughts and in concept ...

I love this, MommaZ. I love how you pulled the dark from the stable and wove it in with the darkness of humanity and the hope for a bright new future in Christ's birth. Beautiful, well crafted imagery. Adored this one.

TYVM :)
This was a beautiful write. Your poem speaks about the true meaning of Christmas(which is NOT the birth of Santa--my apologies to Bart Simpson....) True, the real spirit of Christmas has reduced to merely a shadow of what it's supposed to be. The style with which you wrote this is perfectly suited for the meaning you wanted to convey. Christmas is not just about fat Santas with flowing beards roaming malls, or about the number of gifts you get. It is a festival for celebrating the power of goodness, of amity, of forgetting about our feuds for once. Thank you for this poem! :) In my library!
