Horseman POTUS

Horseman POTUS

A Poem by MomzillaNC

“If we have between
…one hundred thousand
……and two hundred thousand
We’ve altogether
…done a very good job”

So says our raving russet-tinged Boneman
…the pitiless tawny tutelar* horseman
……our POTUS become Pestilence
Presiding, gloating, as we pass 175K
…expecting maybe 300 for Christmas

One hundred and seventy-five thousand
…dead we can scarcely conceive
……and still the tutelar Boneman extols
The virus will just magically disappear
…and urges the My Pillow Guy’s toxic cure

Angels of mercy overwhelmed, numbed
…by an unending, unstemmed stream of patients
……watching those in their oh so tender care
Dying alone, without loved ones near
…wracked with pain, unable to breathe

Mercy is strained far beyond breaking
…the angels too begin to fall and fall
……ground down, downcast, sacrificed
Every death a sum the regime hopes we won’t count
…as we watch our communities… our families collapse

In the enumerable days to come,
…how many more will be lost… will die of this covid,
……with every fact denying voice amplified,
Proving in this unrelenting pandemic,
…their hate means so much more than life?

Compassion and empathy and hope
…are anathema and libtard propaganda
……science and fact are fake news, you know
Equal justice and opportunity evil communism
…inclusivity is godless satanic atheism

All the nation’s falling, failing, flailing
…sinking ground under pandemic and death
……death claims and claims and claims the best of us
While truth is beaten, beaten down… crushed
…risking death every American’s economic responsibility

I need to share this with a friend of mine, the only person I know out of hundreds of friends on FB who reminds us of the death toll often. Three times the number of Americans killed in Vietnam and they ain't getting no wall . . . they ain't getting s**t. I feel as piss-stinkin' mad as you sound here, but I can't take the way the Trump supporters pile on & drown you in his stupid rhetoric like a bunch of mocking minions, so I just sit & stew. That's why your powerfully stated vehemence is such tonic to my soul! I envy your "come what may" bravery to throw it down exactly as outraged as you feel it! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

We are constantly told here in the UK that America has the highest number of infections and the largest death count. But if the true facts are considered, although 175k and counting is awful, America is actually doing better than many countries. Having over 300 million people automatically makes the numbers look horrendous. Take a look at your annual flu death figures. Anyway this is a very well expressed and emotionally charged poem on a topical subject that evokes much ire.

The stats I am talking of come from official and 'reliable' international sources.
