Mother's Tears

Mother's Tears

A Poem by MomzillaNC

Mother's tears flow

marking tracks in ash

Ash settled on her face

as bombs rained down

Mother’s tears fall

marking a face coated

coated in ash and blood

Ash and blood on tiny cheeks

Mother’s tears rain down

on hands trembling

as she takes up arms

to fell some other mother’s sons

Your poem is a heart-wrenching depiction of the devastating impact of war on innocent civilians, particularly mothers and children. The way you describe the "mother's tears" flowing and marking tracks in ash is particularly poignant, as it suggests a sense of grief and loss that is hard to comprehend. I also appreciate the way you use language to convey a sense of chaos and destruction, as in the line "bombs rained down." The second stanza, where you describe the "ash and blood on tiny cheeks," is especially moving, as it speaks to the senseless violence and suffering that so many innocent children are forced to endure. The final stanza, where you describe the mother taking up arms, is a powerful commentary on the cycle of violence and the way that war perpetuates itself. Overall, I think this poem is a powerful call to action, urging us to do everything we can to prevent war and protect innocent lives.

Thank you so much. I deeply honored you discerned the intent I wanted to convey in every line.

Gee
Every body is some mothers child though you wouldn't believe it when the madness of war rages on for what seems an eternity.
