Palms and Experiences

Palms and Experiences

A Poem by Obed

Written for my father

As he walks down the street

He gets looks from people at the central plaza
All looking at him intrigued
If you were to look at his palms
They seem to be 20 pounds heavy and as hard as iron,
But yet when they touch your skin
He does it with such a delicacy, that it feels like the
Wind is kissing your skin
By looking at his palms
You can see roughness in his skin and scars of
Years working hard
He carries himself across the street with great confidence
And, why not?!
He is a man full of life long experiences
Experiences that he would love to pass down to
His younger generations
But ‘We’, as this younger generation
Refuse to learn them
So my wise father has always told me
“Be different, learn from other peoples mistakes, and do not wait to learn from your own.”
I hope one day to be as wise as him
My father, a man who did learn from his mistakes
A man who is too old to accomplish his dreams
And wants me to be great.

I love this.
Its really powerful.
I'm pretty sure I've said that before, but I want it to be documented.
It's great though.
