Ode to NyQuil

Ode to NyQuil

A Poem by JR Darewood
"

This one is self-explanatory

"
Oh NyQuil,
how doth I love thee!
My poetry hath not the words:
a meager ablution
that is but a distant echo of my true affections.

Thy cherry flavor
doth electrify my senses
a symphony of narcotic sweets
like ambrosia of the gods
or Mad Dog 20/20 mixed with ketamine.

My fingers doth lovingly caress
the stalwart surface of thy shatter-proof plastic.
Thy nighttime vigilance doth comfort
when all others hath abandoned me
to my springtime leprosy.

Oh NyQuil, dearest NyQuil
thy "Nighttime Relief"
to make "my bedtime my best time"
are merely banal words that cannot bespeak
the heavenly bliss of your precious gift
of comatose oblivion.

Hah, this is like a comical Ode with a hint at either an inner silliness or depression. Quite intriguing.

I remember my first taste of NyQuil.. savoring that sweet relief... and your ode so wondrously shares the bliss.. the peace.. yes, the comatose oblivion! :)

This is the closest I get to a love sonnet

I too love NyQuil, the joy of it reminds me of the pleasure one gets when snuffing a red marker. Good stuff...wipes my nose. lol

Hahaha, I have a love/hate relationship with NiQuil myself. It's hard to get past the flavor, so I particularly love your 'like ambrosia of the gods or Mad Dog 20/20 mixed with ketamine." lines. Truly a fun read.

yes, the NyQuil-DayQuil cycle can be a brutal one. I'm glad so many people know what Mad Dog 20/20 .. read more
What a lovely ode to an inanimate friend.
-grin-
I too have sang praises to this particular bottle of liquid.

This was just a fun write and I enjoyed it. :)

A true ode - I can feel the love! Though I am more of an Alka-Seltzer gal, I relate to the devotion you have shown. A fun, and nicely worded, piece.
