Silent Senseless Slumber

Silent Senseless Slumber

A Poem by Mr. Malarkey
"

Too tired to do what I came here to do

"
Two weeks on the grind

Full time on the clock
Full time in academia
Little time in slumber
No time for anything else

My pen is silenced

Losing the will to fight
Crippling exhaustion
The will to express myself
Muffled and dulled

I hardly feel anymore

Day after day
The demands
They grow larger
Time is finite

I owe a debt to the sandman

Now I catch my breath
The first calm of the storm
Time to accomplish anything
But my will is broken

No progress was made

This is my message, bottled
Thrown into the sea
The sea of ink and dreams
For any to discover

Duty beckons my return

I am silent now
But I live on
Time is short
I cannot stay for long

I have arrived to say goodbye

The people I want to see
The written words left here
I will return for them
When I possess the strength to read

Much love to all of you <3

Author's Note

Mr. Malarkey
Today was the first of two days I could do anything I wanted following two weeks of constant late night work and school. I sat idly and achieved little. As of this moment, I am too tired to even review or remark on everything that I missed. All of you are amazing writers. I will find the time to leave a message someday. Keep being awesome.

The daily grind of life is so consuming sometimes that it leaves little time or energy for us to do the things we love that including writing a few words for our own joy and happiness. The thing about the daily grind is that some people are comfortable with it while some people chafe at the bit, longing for something to change. Some of those people actively work towards making changes; some are biding their time. Finally, it is upto us to change how we feel and get the needed energy to pursue what we love and I wish you all the best in that.

Yes a bit of planning gets most of the day in order. Thank you very much.

Exhaustion is a curse. It robs you of so much. Certainly your creative skills would fly out the window. Have a break and return when you are well rested. An understandable pen.
