The crow

The crow

A Poem by Mrudula Rani
"

In collaboration with Paul Bell

"
The crow flew into the front yard
Close to the door on the trill he perched.
News of importance he was bringing
Brace your tender heart, and be strong!
For what will be, will be
None can change their destiny!

The crow cawed all through the morning,
I mean no harm,
No bad omen I am
He balanced on the clothes line.
He waited.
Black as night, he waited.

The crow insisted.
The departure of someone will be imminent
Hasten your step and be prepared,
Once gone, never to return.
Never to return.

The crow came back to declare
That he was doing the bidding for Mother Nature
I am nothing but a messenger.
No one heard his cries,
For the house was empty and dark
And the doors were locked

The crow flue to be where reside
The stilled and silent.
All in their wooden cradles safe and sealed,
The crow greeted the visitors with silent stare
For the crow didn't want to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the newly laid.

This reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe's "the raven"
The raven perches outside edgars door and basically is the messenger of death. He represents death in the whole poem only saying "nevermore"
This is a nice poem, I like how the crow is depicted as not evil; as most poems show him as a death bringer. You make him a messenger. Imma name him Hermes ^-^

That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing that :D
Love the drawing! Love the collaboration! As soon as I started reading it, I thought that the two of you have such well-meshed writing styles, I can't even tell a difference between any stanza & any other stanza! Plus when I think of your other writings, I can also see the similarities between you, two writers I very much enjoy reading! I also love the play on Edgar Allen Poe, even tho I haven't read it since high school! Nicely playful, just like both of you often are in your writings! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Galadriel, I appreciate your reading and for the review.
A wonderful collaboration and subject. You both herald a message from this wonderful creature. The crow has many meanings in different cultures and they vary. To some, it is bad omen, to others good messengers and such. You both rock...
