Adytum

Adytum

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Ever and again I dither,
Wrest no wit, insipid, bitter.
Sense as a wreck, tears ensue.
All I want then get home to you.

Ersatz smiles, spurious mores,
Vexatious requitals, angst scores
Intuit devoid of venue,
All I want then get home to you.

For verve as alluring as poems,
Restless rapture so often brims,
Ardour far assures my value,
All I want then get home to you.

Ever and again I dither,
All I want then get home to you.

ohhhhhhh i like this one Mrudula! love your use of language ... lots of "favorite lines" ;) and the title is powerful .. i have an oldie using that title ;) such a full and descriptive word eh!? i think your poem really does a great job of creating those tensions from work and responsibilities; making your "home" a most welcome adytum ... "Ersatz smiles, spurious mores," ..."Intuit devoid of venue," ..."For verve as alluring as poems," ... fine stuff says i! :)

This made me think of the poem I read of yours not long ago about the tissue with lipstick that your husband saved. The love that swirls between you. The sacredness of that connection between two people who find each other and belong together.

I love the repetition of ...get home to you. That’s so affirming. Like in the middle of all the chaos there is always that center of light to guide you home. Always that anticipation. It makes me think of that expression ‘home fires.’ There’s always a place of warmth that goes beyond the corporeal.

A lovely poem, Mrudula.

Home, that special place. Your words here Mrudula really convey just how special a haven that is. Written with real feeling, this reader felt the emotion and longing. The repetition works brilliantly.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Chris. Appreciate you reading mine.

These words of yours here are.. to say the very least, quite beautiful.. the repetition too is simply superb.. This is in fact, one of those very rare poems that is so deserving of more than the full marks this reader is permitted to award them.... I am also very proud of ya M..

Sanctury can be a place or a person or even a moment in time. You have set the scene here that someone has so much faith in another that whatever life throws, that person is where they feel safe.

' .. All I want then get home to you. '

Feeling home is such a special place, it holds everything a being could wish, not necessary one hundred per cent but at least enough a feeling of belonging, safety. trust and most of all - love. Your repeated phrase is so meaningful. There's so much to think about,so much to do, necessity or adventure, either or.. life takes over... but that yearning, that need to get, to be, home.. is what keeps a smile in both heart and mind.

Have a great Sunday. Querida Emmajoy.
Over yonder the grass is greener, further over its greener so.
But somehow home is the greenest too, just because I come home to you.

The longing makes it possible I suppose.
some go out looking for whatever it is they think they need, and then get back home and find it.
