a crooked couple

there's the:
football jock and the blonde cheerleader.
emo boy + emo girl.
nerd boy and nerd girl.
all those couples who date among their social class.
but then theres us.
so outrageous they dont know what to call us.
little bit of freak, sweet, tangled, not quite gone as planned.
but thats just us, the way we work together.
every kiss is a mess just to get through.
each hug ends with someone on the ground.
every hand held gets our arms in a twisted lock.
so sure we're a bot jumbled.
but its us.
you cant deny who you are, let alone us.
whether your ashamed or proud, its you.
even on those silly days when you can quite get the romance.
we're that circus on wheels.
but its you + me and thats how i like it.

I like it! I never got to see the high school cliques and categories, being homeschooled. I would probably have been a bookworm/fantasy sci fi nerd. But when you get older all those things don't really matter any more. People ask what you do for work, not what kind of music you like. So we should all just be ourselves. Great poem!
