I pray to God

to relinquish me

to die within your arms.

To bleed out

this inexorable pain

of having to leave you,

upon this day

of golden summer.

I wrote this within minutes after reading of singer Celine Dion’s husband battling throat Cancer. His final wish is to die in her arms…

deeply felt young lady ..thank you ..saving it to favorites right now .. their story is a very romantic one and her voice is a rare gift ... lots of people sing..but only a few can sing ... now... not talking about people like me that sing all the time ..to my kids, my wife, my friends and myself ...which i do call singing ;) ..talking about the pros :) .. this is a beautifully written epitaph i would put on my own marker .. just beautiful!

I've had animals die in my arms when I had to put them down at the Vets, but I don't know if I could be so brave as to hold someone until they died. Perhaps that's something better left to the "when and if" it ever were to happen. The story made me think and touched me in a way I had to write about it.
