Listen to the Warm

Listen to the Warm

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Listen to the Warm

I listen to the warm.

It centers me and makes me whole.
It reminds me
that I was someone’s daughter,

that someday

I’ll become an author of a book,
the one that stirs within my consciousness

whenever I listen to the warm.

Whenever I find myself

caught in the quiet of a rain soaked day,
lonely for places I’ll never go

…like Schenectady, or Paris.

Author's Note

Kelly Scheppers
I took a quote from this poem and titled it, “In the Quiet”, which I posted in March of last year. And on another note, one of my favorite poets, Rod McKuen, titled a book of poetry by the very same title...just in case you took notice!

Very fresh & interesting take on finding our center, the place where things are quiet & warm & balanced. I like the details of what this means for the narrator, the dreams & visions for him/her . . . also prompting the reader to ponder such possibilities . . . and the bliss of seeking our power spot.

I love how your words carry such a sense of presence. There is past, and your life's unfolding. The present and its beautiful wholeness. And this hopeful light into tomorrow; this someday. xo

There is a soft grace to your words. Your phrasing whispers in harmonies as a warm breeze tends to young leaves in the moonlight. Your poetry Kelly is that of dreams, it touches the reader softly and creates a euphoric palette in the mind. This was beautiful and so very real.

So happy to spend a couple spare minutes in the beauty of your work Kelly. I have never thought that I listened to the warm....but in the depth of my being I can hear it, and it comforts me. Perfect..

Another one of your awesome poems, most times i feel this way and words wont just come out. I relate to this too much, especially this line I’ll become an author of a book,
the one that stirs within my consciousness. Good job Kelly

Thanks. I'm not very photogenic...oh well. Maybe I just think I look better than I really do. Ha.
