Love I'll Never Know

Love I'll Never Know

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Love I’ll Never Know

I’ve felt the grass beneath my feet

The leaves that shuffle through city streets

The falling rain upon a rose ~

love I’ve never come to know.

I’ve seen the innocence of a child

Ships against currents, raging wild

The total being of being alone ~

but love I’ve never known.

I’ve felt the sun upon my face

The feeling of a warm embrace

A promise that beckoned to be true ~

though love I never knew.

I’ve come to know the night can blind

A broken heart may cease to find

The pain that comes from letting go ~

but love I’ll never know.

...this is one from many years ago, when I wrote about love as something that would never happen to me. Remember that feeling?

I feel blessed that I do, every day. Many thanks, Tony!
Ummm … Kelly,
I love your gently flowing Free Style, how you blend emotion, gentleness, beauty, vivid feeling, and thought together with tender sorrow, threading it through the yearning essence of your living, breathing words, and the picture reeks of perfect ache.
Yes, I "remember that feeling", Kelly … every moment!

This one knows me all too well ⁓ Richard

Its a wonderful feeling when the reader expresses the same joy the writer had in writing. Thank you.. read more
Love comes in many guises. Sometimes it's there and we don't recognize it and we let it slip through our fingers like so much sand. When it comes and it will come even if for only a while it is a whole new world. A world with stars sparkling in your eyes. a world where only the two of you exist. Love finds us all, we must bide its arrival and when it comes welcome it with arms outspread.

...yes, indeed!
I was always told never to look for love, it would find me. They lied. But heah, the roller coaster is there for a reason.

I accept your compliment with a grateful heart....
I think your poem too is lovingly penned! As Poppy says in her review ... it is very potent....... you portray the wonder and loveliness of Nature so well in this beautifully tactile poem. ( and, although you will probably deny it, I bet you have known love !!!!!!)
