A Sunday kind of Love

A Sunday kind of Love

He wanted a Sunday

kind of love

but it was only Tuesday

and Friday

wasn’t even in

my rear view mirror.

This is just about as good as Hollywood Noir gets.. Any darker and we would all get sucked in :) Delightfully dark and true...

Many thanks, Ken!
Ahhh… but the Sunday kind of love -- that's the kind that lasts. Languid Sundays, reveling in time… those long, lazy afternoons in each others arms.

If he'll devote Sunday to you, he'll devote every day.

Of course, that's before kids. LOL

I feel so unoriginal writing this but...you packed so much into so little! A wonderfully sensual write!

...you, too!
Wow- my mom played “A Sunday Kind of Love” by the great Dinah Washington all through my childhood. Her voice was so mellow, sultry, complex, emotive...I learned every word and tried to imitate her singing when I was around 7 yrs old. My mom played the greats for me- music was the precious gift she gave me. Kelly, your smoky, noir poem and lady brought it all back to me. Great wordplay, nuance and teasing in your concentrated and amazing lines. Well, Maybe she’ll tell him, “Come up and see me sometime”.....or....maybe she won’t!- ha! Loved this.

Yes-a chanteuse! Me too!:))))
you've crammed an awful lot into this piece. terrific stuff kelly. well, we can't always have what we want especially when it comes to affairs of the heart. still it's nice to have our cake and eat it too - especially red velvet cake ... :)

I'm thrilled you enjoyed my little Noir. Thank you so much, Fran! Have a wonderful day.
Ah to quote Spanky and Our Gang...Sundays will never be the same.
A Sunday kind of love on Tuesday? Wouldn't that get you kicked out of the office? ;>}

There is something about that splash of red in the picture...I wonder if John Garfield is lurking in the background.

A good write, Kelly.

That splash of red lipstick is what snared my attention. Thanks, Ted!
this made me laugh somehow

the way it's worded is cleverly fun

a wicked little jaunt of wordplay
