August

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

August

It was August
and summer

was thick in the air,

like the concentrated efforts
of a trapeze artist.

...thank you, darlin! I am smiling from ear to ear!
I loved the graphic - and the poem was succinct and loaded, like the humidity of an August day. The image of the trapeze artist works so well. It makes the reader stop and think.. and then the mind plays on the instability and rapid changes that characterize August weather, with its drumming thunder and swinging flashes. A finely worked poem.

the humidity has knocked me off the wire...and i fell into the net absolutely soaked to the skin...
love the metaphorical use of August...and summer being the artist...
and unfortunately where we live...the humidity keeps shaking the wire.

Too true, Kelly, August is truly the dog days of summer, Hot & sticky here today like a trapeze artist flying through the air.

Well done.
P.S. I have one posted here with the same title, although the body of the work is quite different.
