It's Nearing Autumn

It's Nearing Autumn

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

...my first leaf of autumn

It’s Nearing Autumn

photography by Kelly Scheppers

it’s nearing autumn,

already the wind is turning

my cat sleeps insouciantly curled

at the foot of the bed

where tonight a blanket will lay

in a horizontal fold.

The thought of a cat has me sneezing...I'm allergic to their fur.
Autumn has landed here, time for s socks in the morning and central heating in the late evening.
Can picture this in my mind.
Lovely words Kelly.
Hope all is well with you.

So tender, such a beautiful expression of autumn's coming chill. Love the miraculous words and your beautiful image as well.

I'm always flattered to garnish a new reader. Thank you so much!
I wonder if cats think to themselves. Why do humans go out in the snow when they could be tucked up in bed. I ask myself that same question many a dark morning.

The small telltale signs of the approach of autumn both endearing and with just a hint of resignation as we say farewell to those long leisurely days of summer. I can almost picture you walking along the beach somewhere with jeans rolled up and cradling a cuppa Joe in your hands :-) You have a gift for allowing one’s imagination to run. I really loved this write!

I see not raindrops but teardrops, Kelly. (Again, your accompanying image is ideal.) Perhaps it’s the death of summer’s green and the vibrance that accompanies life and warmth. I also read a calm, peaceful acceptance of nature and the promise of another season. Another original piece of art.

It's funny how our pets signal the changes . . . I have a short-haired dog who gets cold easily, so she's already burrowing under the covers! Love your graceful depictions that convey volumes in mood (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
