he is an incessant tune

running  a marathon pace in my mind

 

weaving an indelible impression

of jazz and culinary skills

of Marlboro Lights and Calvin Klein

 

he is a litany of paperwork

with a scent of me not easily removed

 

i am the coercive thought

piquing his photographic mind

 

weaving an indelible impression

of designer bags and Gucci heels

of Revlon lips and sun kissed skin

with auburn hair cascading down

 

running a marathon pace in his mind.

This sounds like the perfect love affair to me! My wife says everywhere I go I leave the scent of my cologne but far from complaining, she connects it to me and the thought of me. I don't really wear that much. I definitely have the "culinary skills" expressed here. ;) (I'm making banana bread as I type.) I tell my wife that if I should die, I want to spoil her for any other man. (laughing) Oh, my cologne? I'm a Drakkar Noir guy. She is, in my mind, the perfect soul mate, a wonderful mixture of intellect, inspiration, imagination and beauty.

(laughing) Well, the bread was in the oven as I was typing. I made two loaves, one in a cake pan and one in my cast iron pan. They both turned out great. I even took some to my neighbor next door. I walked over there in the rain. I knocked and was afraid he might not answer as it was lightning and I was carrying an umbrella (a walking lightning rod) ha! But he came to the door in his boxer shorts. He's a bachelor who hardly gets company. I hope I didn't wake him from a nap. But I quickly handed him the bread and scampered (well, I limped quickly) back home. I'm so sorry I can't share some with you. You'd be more than welcome. And yes, my wife reads everything I write or has it read to her. (laughing) but my biggest fan is my eight year old daughter. She told her ELA (English, Language Arts) teacher that she loved poetry. The teacher asked her who her favorite poet was. She didn't miss a beat. She proudly piped up, "My daddy!" But to be fair to the child, she hasn't had a chance to read many of the masters yet. (smile) She is reading The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway right now though and loves it. I gave her my old Scribner paperback copy and she's treasuring it like it was gold. Bless you, my friend. he and the speaker ("you") both sound like people not easily forgettable. there are people like that in life: they appear like comets in one' sky and leave a trail both spectacular and ethereal. some realists might say it's all frozen space rock, but realists don't read, write, understand, or appreciate the poetry behind the facts of life.

But I have been called an incessant tune many a time 😊
I'll just take the car and meet you at the finish line. No one finds a gasping wheeze attractive, do they? 😊
I have a photographic memory too, but can never remember to put the film in (if anyone under 30 reads this, it means I can't find the memory card slot!)
