Drunk in Love

Drunk in Love

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Drunk in love

photography by / Gabriele Rigon

with martini in hand

he stood poised,

wearing a come hither glance

like a well-worn suit.

dallying my Jimmy Choo heel

from a pedicured toe,

i bit the cherry

from its abbreviated stem,

pleasuring in the heady intoxication

of an almond liqueur.

it was the lure of his smile

that beguiled me,

the speared olive in the martini glass

that initiated the parting of lips

the embryonic tryst, of being

drunk in love.

This a word I rarely use but.. this is a WOW of a poem. Has your sparkling words, picture (gorgeous fun), the classy clothes, cocktails and other flavours, the 'come get me 'looks and - the feeling that there is a lot more going on in their eyes! Start to finish - seductive,

Have to tell: this poem just splayed itself on the screen, no idea why cos it goes back a while. Not complaining though... opens the door to my jaded imagination, Kelly!

huh... sexy...

And a bit erotic as well... I would say.

Forgive me... I can be very literal... or almost...

Sometimes... Great poetry!

You're welcome. My pleasure.
You never cease to amaze me. Every time I think you have hit your peak another master piece appears. This is simply astounding. It makes me wonder if ‘art indeed imitates life’ yours must be especially pleasing in the area of romance. ;-)

Over and over you do this magical spin of yours...the spearing of an olive, the subtle slow detail that gives life to what otherwise is overlooked. All poets reach for that star but you return to it again and again...it should be appreciated if not envied as "his" smile was for you. "Abbreviated stem", once more over and over you return to your own erotica and poetry, without the need for the name of poetry invoked. This is a rare thing and moment captured by a film and camera that does not exist but on your page Kelly...well poured~
