The Further Spotlight

The Further Spotlight

A Poem by Erudite

He steps out into the spotlight and shines for the audience.
In the back of his mind, he holds his competitors and teachers.

He bows and says "they'll like that"

He sings not for the universe.

He laughs not for himself.

He loves not for love's sake.

To him, the world is open, but a different gap is uncrossable.

"See the man with the stage fright
Just standing up there to give it all his might.
And he got caught in the spotlight" From Stage Fright by The Band

This was an interesting venue into the silhouette of a soul, painted by the spotlight but unhappy and desperate. I enjoyed.
