Manhood!

Manhood!

A Poem by Muskan

Manhood!!

We foresee our men ,to be citizens better
When we ourselves in childhood
Gave them the erroneous instruction letter

To our boy of five
We hushed him saying
"Boys don't cry"
And taught him to be ,always tough in life

Told him we that
Men don't wear pink
About the barbies,he must not think

To our boy of ten
We handed over a pen
Threatening him,we said
Study, else u'll have to cook every now and then

To our boy of fifteen
We taught him to be masculine, fair and tall
And be center of attraction of every girl's hall
When he cried in Front of all
We judged him saying
"Bro! are you sure ,you have balls?"

To our boy of twenty
Expected we,him to be a gentleman
With brands and dad's money plenty
Taught him already to hide his tears
And then blamed him for becoming frenzy

When refused he,drinks and night outs
We needled him saying
"Bro! Are you a man or a mouse?"

To our boy of twenty five
We told him that now the time has arrive
To judge ,if his bank account had thrive
And then to find him a good wife

I like this poem as well! There should not be concrete standards that everyone has to follow, everyone is an individual and should not feel pressured to take the path that others are accustomed to. Your writing shows that you have great insight about individuality and not letting others steer your life for you.

Thank you for an endearing review
Following the well tread path of history doesn't always lead to where we thought it would go. Trying to put a square peg in a round hole often leads to confusion and disappointment.

Good poem, Muskan.

Thank you for your words dear Relic
Very insightful indeed. And of course very relate-able. Luckily I don't hold my tears (though I don't cry I lot) and I love pink as long as it suits me.

But you have hit the nail right on the head with the perception we built around how men should behave in the society. As a writer, it gives us a lens to come out of everything and ponder over. It's just like the other day, I imagined that what if we humans never got in the concept of wearing external clothing, wouldn't that lead us to such a different psychology. Wouldn't women be safe on roads and men be less aggressive in their head. Similarly, here you come out of the society we build and question it. That. my friend is a power you hold.

Thank you so much for viewing and liking my work
In this you look at the traditional role society used to force most men into and it was never a perfect fit. A great talking point and a perspective on the move I guess?

Yes, you guessed it right.Thank you for your words dear:)
sometimes it is just impossible to mold our children into exactly what we want or expect them to be.
this screams of that to me...some regrets on pushing too hard...and on the rebellion that came with doing that...
Sometimes we just have to let them grow into what they are...
