REFRACTIVE INDEX (SPECTRUM)

REFRACTIVE INDEX (SPECTRUM)

A Poem by M.Babu
"

Which side of the moral index are you?

"

So what’s your refractive index,

The spectrum where a good life is bent and split,

From white to a vague variety of red and yellow.

Tell me now, is life better true or mellow?

From your refracted perspective please enlighten,

Us lost souls; stuck and bombarded,

Are we shallow and weak to chase ‘fantasy’?

A path narrowing and lost between ignorance and reality?

Maybe it’s better to use mirrors in front of us?

To walk with little direction; reflected moral bearing?

Please tell me I’m desperate to understand this!

Bending to pressure, does it bring unrivaled bliss?

Tell me NOW!! I’m probably a misplaced soul,

In the wrong generation, where cool is foul,

I’m I stupid to try walking on this rigid path?

Cause you all taunt and belittle me with worldly wrath.

Wait? You’re all apologizing now? What happened?

Are your immoral glasses broken now? That’s saddening):

What? You beg for the path I took? This is too surreal!

The solution’s simple, wipe off the grime and you’ll see.

Dear Michael,

I was not drawn to this poem, but as I read I discovered that you are wise, with an ocean of deep and wide understanding that honestly impressed me and I simply LOVE your poem, because it speaks pure truth and as for the last line. It is simply brilliant. Thanks for sharing this. Definitely one of my favs. 100.

In my opinion, whether or not this is clear is subject to individual interpretation(forget what Alvin says!:-P)i like the spectrum idea, you use it well!and its creative...i like the messege in the poem too,to stand your ground on your own and not give in isnt always easy!!its a great poem!

A wise person realize his life ain't so important. The life of the people he care for and the world around him. Is the real test of a man/woman. A lot of people don't want to see and know the truth. Rather use trick mirrors to hide the misery and sadness outside their doors. I like the complete poem. A very strong ending to a outstanding poem. You made me think. Thank you.

i like the way you interwove the spectrum concept into your individuality/peer pressure theme...but you're right, its abit unclear, maybe you pushed it too far.after the second stanza you kinda abandoned the whole idea?
i like the way 'you' stand your own ground and walk your own path...cause thats the only way to live without regret. And, in the end -

keep it up bro!
