Through this City

Through this City

A Poem by Rdotinc.

Let the wind whip through this city. It's skylines and below.
It's parks, it's pools, it's playgrounds. The graveyards buried in snow.
Let the wind whip through this city. It's people all at once.
It's sinners, it's saints, it's workers. It's beggers with nowhere to run.
Let the wind whip through this city. It's howling out in pain.
From dawn, till night, till morning again. Awaiting the coming rain.
Let the wind whip through this city. It's heart and broken bones.
It's eyes, it's lies, it's promises. It's true face that can't be shown.
Let the wind whip through this city. Rattling all our childhood fears.
Down dark hallways, in closets, and beneath your bed.
Everything that caused you tears.
Wind whip through my city
It's skylines and below.
Through graveyards buried in snow.
The people all at once, even beggers with nowhere to run.
Though howling out in pain, awaiting the coming rain.
Through hearts and broken bones, with a face that can't be shown.
And all your childhood fears are causing many tears.
So, wind whip through this city.
Set a sobering truth into our lives.
For days, hours, and minutes. Into seconds we'll arrive.
Oh wind whip through me, chill me to my core.
Numb my body, from head to toe, tell my raven nevermore.
Now wind go from this city. Your business is complete.
Leave without a warning, like dying in one's sleep.
Wind, you've done your justice. More than I could ask.
So be swift and ever fleeting, till you're called for one more task...
