Drums of War

Drums of War

A Poem by NJ Schneider
"

are you ready?

"
Take this stick
Draw a line in the sand
Do you know what's right
Would you hold my hand

The path ahead is rough
As the sides split in two
One wishes only for justice
While the others vision is askew

As the sides split
Bridges burn and break
How many of us will survive
What relationships will unmake

We pick up our swords
Pass around the shields
Wait for the drums of war
Fight until the enemy yields

Take my hand
Draw a line in your heart
Do you know what's right
Would you do your part

Oooh, I really like this poem. You can feel the ever-present pulse of the war drums behind your words, driving this along with a very good rhythm. Strongly written, and the last stanza seemed to echo in my head after I finished reading it. Great job capturing that tense determination felt on the battlefield the eve of the fight.
