Still Here

Still Here

A Poem by Nandawula Regine Kabali-Kagwa

My eyes are not there, to look at yours
To have a conversation and make your orbs smile
But the distance that you see
Is how far my heart goes fonder... For miles

My lips are not there, to share a dance with yours
To waltz to the music of how we feel
But as long as our music still plays
My heart will always two-step to your heart beat

My hands are not there, to elevate the hairs on your skin
To swell those goosebumps
But as long as I'm still here
My presence remains through my absence, from our fire within

I am not there, but I'm here within the chambers of your soul
Safely tucked in your linen of romance
Always
