The Hate that Burns

We had to do a symbolism piece for my Creative Writing class at school. I was sitting there thinking about things I could do when this beat formed in my head. And then the words came and I really liked how it sounded.

This hate that I keep

Burns a fire in my heart

And like the flames of that fire

I keep hurting myself

And driving myself

To this darkness I call home

 

All alone in the cold

And my fire has gone out

Slowly losing myself

In this frozen over hell

No ones there

In the dark

With that lone little spark

In the embers that glow

A quiet voice calls me out

And the fire it grows

‘Til it wants to eat me whole

And consume me again

Leave me ‘lone once again

 

In the cold

In the dark

At the beginning of the end

All alone

Not soul by my side

 

Crazed and obsessed I have become

With a flame to hot

Burnt all life down to ashes

Smoldering in this barren landscape

That was once filled with beauty

But everything is a lie

Not a single word means a thing anymore

Once you took my soul and left me with this fire

You are my hate

You are my life
