My Name is Poem.  And You Are…?

Hi there, my name is Poem.

It is nice to finally meet you

I’m here to finally show ‘em

What a pen can finally do

I am Poem, and here is me

I am metaphors, alliteration

I am juxtapositions, hyperbole

I am rhythms and repetition

I don’t know much about life yet

But I do think that it’s a little sad but

Still a happy place when we’re upset

And the heart isn’t something to be shut

I haven’t seen much of life, but still

Isn’t it just beautiful with life being awesome

I heard it, but I wonder what it means to kill

And to stop loving someone: to just be done

But that’s enough about me, come now

I can’t meet someone without knowing them

I can't serve a king without knowing to whom to bow

To whom can I give a poem: a precious gem

I bet your name sounds lovely, but

Isn’t it true that all people are lovely

No one would lie, steal, kill, or just cut

Because human perfection is all I see

Oh dear, there I am again, ranting as usual

I think I should stop talking but my author

Keeps extending my dialogues to be full

But, I want to hear what you have to say: It will be funner

Most creative and enjoyable. I smiled as I read it through. My poems never end up the way I intended them. Yes, at the end of them it's like being introduced for the first time. That's creativity for you. It worms its way into all your thoughts. I like where you took me with these words.

I like cheese nachos by the way :)

Hello James. You must have quite the interesting brain if it decided to come up with a poem about a poem. I don't think I could ever put out an idea like this.
I happen to have read most of your poems, and your style of writing is really enjoyable to me. The way this plays off as a dialogue between a poem and the reader is particularly creative.
Poem wanted to hear what I have to say, and I hope I did a good job of saying it XD.
Anyways, keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing more from you!

Another example of me being torn in 2 directions when I read you. On one hand, your concept for this poem is brilliantly original & interestingly executed, love the conversational tone, love how you try to make this into a back-and-forth by playful coaxing. But I go nuts when I see an opening verse that has "finally" in 3 out of 4 lines!!! This poems goes from the heights of originality to the depths of lacking it. Your inviting, easygoing spirit comes thru all your poems, so we'll just have to see if you want to stay in this space that you seem to love writing in, or if you want to try to reach out in a few new inventive ways, too!?!?! Thank you for your advice and kind words. I appreciate you coming by!

James
the poem knows what it is but not what it might be.
It knows what the poet lets it know, but it wants more...
the poet has given it life...but now the poem wants to give it back to the poet...
maybe it wants to hear what the author has to say...to see if the poet gave it life honestly.
are poem and poet one in the same?
i really like where this took me.
