The Emerald City

The Emerald City

A Poem by NGenieL

They pummelled the stuffing out of me,

ripped out my veins like a trees roots from the ground,

and discarded the rags.

I need a new brain because my old one

shattered on yellow brick and it still hurts.

It's not worth fixing.

Colours change

Summer snows

Lions meow and monsters fly

The Emerald City

glimmers ahead

It's blinding. It hurts my eyes.

Give me a brain and I'll give you a home.

You'll obtain a heart on the way, and I'll grow some courage.

We don't need wizards.

Poppies pop in our eyes,

Emeralds end our journey.

I am happy for you, I am sad to see you go, and I am empty-handed.

I love this! Especially since The Wizard Of Oz is one of my favorite stories! You certainly had a great rhythm and flow throughout the whole poem! 100/100
