The Plagiarist

The Plagiarist

A Poem by Neville
"

yep.. that old chestnut

"

The Plagiarist

Who would take the words ideas and images

From another

Then shuffle them around the canvass or the page

Then slightly

Rearrange each idea and concept for their own ill-gotten

Personal gains

I think without any doubt we all know such a felon and so I ask

Should we

Would we

Could we

Pity them or have them hang in chains

?

They can hardly get any satisfaction from pinching work can they? I pity them, that they haven't got the talent to do it themselves. It's happened to me before, sometimes with themes, but once I had a whole poem of mine nicked and posted on another site. Sorry if this has happened to you Neville.

Have a great evening & mind my words my friend.... Neville
There is a disturbing trend amongst younger "artists" of things like "found poetry" "found art" - taking pieces and parts of others and rearranging them for yourself and calling it yours. My kid listens to a horrible form of "music" called Night core, which speeds up music of other artists as a sort of remix on crack. I don't get it. Very sad state of affairs indeed. Plagiarism is theft. Plain and simple, now advocated in elementary school as legitimate art

Plagiarism in any of its grotesque forms is theft in my book...thank you Lyn... N
is it possible to be a plagiarist unintentionally, i mean there is a thin line between being inspired by the work of another thereby recreating your own piece and out right stealing another's work

eventually i think they hang in their own chains---it will catch up to them sooner or later...and those who actually created the ideas/poems know that they did...

I once collaborated with a writer on a poem. While he posted that piece originally here, some time after I came by an account of his on another site and saw that he'd changed all my stanzas into his and credited it as his own. So, I suppose I call that plagiarism but I pity that behaviour more than it angers me. But I can see how hurtful on the one being plagiarized that can be.
Hanging them in chains would be a little too much ;) I think they die out themselves.
