Innerness

Innerness

A Poem by Neville
"

............................. just mark my words & look out, reverse introspection is coming to get you ..

"

Innerness

Where you would have boundaries

there is a burn mark on my skin ….

Remember this though darling

the world outside is small and tame

When compared to the wilderness

Within …………………………………………

I remember an Indian proverb from your words...Something to the effect that - When I set out to find evil...I found none more evil than me...
If only we invested more time in understanding the wilderness within, we'd understand the one outside much better.
Well penned dear sir!

wow ... powerful ...each couplet tells volumes on their own .. together they offer depth, hard won understanding and wisdom ... that burn mark on the skin .. the external world .. stings .. but a small thing compared to damage to the soul .. i am an introvert .. and i approve of this message :)))))))))))))))

wow, yes, Neville...
a wilderness in which we can so easily become more lost than we ever got on the outermost.

I love the word "Innerness" . . . it describes my life of solitude in the wilderness artfully. Your poem speaks to me of how people tend to put nose in other people's biz, telling us how to live, etc . . . but now some are more isolated (as in covid times) & nudged into more self-introspection that had been avoided before. Looking at our own crap is certainly tougher than telling other people how to shovel theirs (((BUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The mind is indeed a wilderness dear Neville at times. I am left thinking, invest in the natural environment, it is good for your soul.

And a quote :

"Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace"

The searing when breaching what's forbidden goes deeper than skin - - - and this short piece of bold introspection brings out where wild rules the most - -- a pearl of wisdom if ever i saw one dear Neville.
