Birdspeak

Birdspeak

A Poem by Neville

Birdspeak

Tell me darling, tell me do

why do owls too-wit-to-woo

And why do so many song birds sing

While starlings merely murmur …..

I'm here of a sunny winter morn, my doors wide open, warming up toward a toasty afternoon as the abundant birdspeak flows thru my cabin non-stop. As soon as I saw "birdspeak" (not only witty in meaning, but also clever cuz it sounds like "wordspeak") I had to click, no matter what other poems might've caught my eye. Line 2 makes me want to invent fun creature-sounding words! (((BOOP-BOOP-BEE-DOO))) fondly, Margie

May yours keep dancing today and everyday 💓🎵🎶🎵💓
Starlings are noisy birds. They make a racket. An assortment of different sounds. They only murmur in flight formation and I have never heard them that high up. I am wondering whether your darling answered you?

That got the brain working oh wise owl.
To think I've been feeding that bloody murmur all winter as well.
I deserve a goose to fall out the sky for my dinner.

Why do chicks peep or others chick-a dee? I have no clue. :) I like the light-hearted feel of this piece though. We watch the birds here, I have feeders for both squirrels and birds and my favorite visitor is a red-headed woodpecker who loves the sunflower seeds...he's stunning. We also have blue-jays, cardinals, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, finches and orioles. This was a fun read.
