With Nothing More to Lose

With Nothing More to Lose

A Poem by Neville

With Nothing More to Lose

I noticed there were rainbows

forming

from the arc of tears then

falling

like multicoloured waterfalls

of fractured

stained glass, poured upon

the pretty

yellow handkerchief you held

against those

most amazing eyes of yours ..

Oh’ my darling

look at me, they say I’m dying

and it feels

like I’ve got nothing more to lose ..

I have read many of your poems Neville, and enjoyed them all. But this one my friend is a cut above.
The imagery, not to shortchange the emotional IQ is quite simply off the charts. Rainbows forming in the wake of arc of tears, a yellow handkerchief, all put into a clarifying poignancy of the last couplet. A Poet's Poem my friend.

Incredibly sad and beautiful at the same time. The yellow handkerchief I found intriguing. Why yellow? Because yellow is for sunshine and there has to be something positive with the possibility of such a tragic ending. With nothing more to lose, rock bottom has been reached. Let there be some sun, please.
