Poem On a Plate

Obrigado, she said,

let’s go

make like the locals

and live

as finely as nobles

off land

and the sea ..

On freshly caught

anchovies,

black olives,

and unpasteurised

goats cheese,

buckets of red wine

white grapes,

and wild honey ..

Plus baskets

of this, homemade

still warm

and delicious, crusty

coarse

Portuguese bread ..

Love Portugal. Spent many happy weeks holidaying up on the silver coast, this as yet not fully colonised by boorish brits looking for a full English and an Irish bar. You can go there and live amongst and as the locals...if you choose too.
This wee piece has me yearning for the sun and the delights described.

Hey Gee, thanks mate & regards to you, yours n MK .. I was there on an all expenses paid working holiday although spent a lot of time in the Algarve yonks back .. I reckon I by-passed that pub you mention much preferring the unspoilt bits myself .. Not too bad here I guess in the great scheme of things,.. Neville

A simple life. Living off the land or from the produce of the sea. All washed down with a decent drop of vino and crusty bread. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, except this was Portugal I do believe. A tasty poem Neville.

thanks Chris, as much as I love me grub & a decent glug ..and am fortunate enough to have been spoilt for most of my life to date in that respect, I must confess that I have a longstanding passion for rustic fare ......Oh' n some of the grub in Rome aint bad neither ......... Neville
