My cold bed

My cold bed

A Poem by NeverSurrender

I wake up all alone.

Memories flood my head
Should be warm,

But feel cool instead.

Never a kiss

A squeeze is all I get

I’ve wanted more

Ever since we met

The same as always

You start with “hello”

You give me my hug

And when it’s time to go

A warm departing embrace,

A reassuring hold.

But at the end of the day

My bed’s still cold

This reminded of my first crush who was a good friend. He would always hug me to say goodbye and every night I would always imagine him cuddling me in bed to keep me warm! I'd fall asleep like that but when I wake up, of course my bed would be empty. Sorry for the tirade there... I just thought this poem was really good at showing, even in such a small amount of words, how that feels.

I like it , although you was probably sad when that was written , you expressed your sadness , your willing to get more ... again

This is so sad.
Many of us wake to a cold bed
because we may be discriminatory ,
but to have a warm body who
deserts his bed. There is something
wrong with his head.
Cute poem, but sad.

I like the way you expressed the desire in this poem. After knowing a warm body near. Hard to awake alone. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

Beautiful! You really have a talent. I love the quiet desperation in this poem. I especially like the second and the fourth stanza :)
