Hesitation

Hesitation

A Poem by Neville
"

the re-working of an old one.. I mean the poem.... well maybe not entirely..

"

Hesitation

Somewhere beneath

The highest bough

There will always be

Those who shall forever

Hesitate while

Others wander free

Then there are those

Who jump without

So much as looking

Leaping into nothing

Like blind or reckless

Lovers

Throwing caution

To the wind

Individual heroes

Versus

Flocks of willing sheep

Those that take a dive

And those who

Forever wait and weep

Despite a lifetime of climbing, i have recently found myself feeling diizzy at the thought of some of the leaps younger me made.
Not so much a fear of heights as a fear of the ground ending my terminal velocity.
Still, we must take chances now and again. Every second pick n mix sweet at the cinema finds my mouth instead of the bag, but in my defence, you shouldn't need to take out a mortgage for some overpriced haribo 😀

Many a true word for sure, put in your own fine way, Neville.

Think, feel, but don't know that - what's happening world.wide will prove what and who people really are. Maybe critics will realise they're not always right, the gentle fragile will show what they're really made of, and - people generally, whatever status, character/personality, will stop thinking of Self all the time; take their heads out of the clouds or sand, then, finally become a real part of the human race.

We can only hope, Neville. Hoping you and your darlings stay safe/
To hesitate may be good but you used the word "forever" and that leads to total non-action where even walking let alone jumping into situations or relationships seems non-negotiable - hence stalemate which withers and molds away any excitement. Wandering free would fairly describe folk like me......... loved this one Nev....................... x

Thank you Fay and truly true.... :)
I would imagine that in the current climate there will be many pondering on their own lives and worth. Cautious Chris is how I am known. Never been a sheep blindly following the leader. Yes a hesitater rather than throwing caution to the wind. Evaluating the situation first. I am sure those who jump can probably have much more excitement but I am not weeping. An interesting reflection on the human race. Good morning Neville. Enjoy this lovely sunshine. Get out in your garden

I caught several waves of recognition when I finished your poem. First, of course, the political maelstrom we face here in the USA where half the electorate is up in arms & opposing one another while the other half is so lethargic due to dismal everything. Next, I caught what I would expect as your main meaning, how some seize the moment (like I did) & others cling to a secure perch (like my family) & I think we both have an equal number of regrets. Still, I believe others envy me for living a life of freedom & adventure, whereas I do not envy their lives of security. It's too complicated to weigh it all out. I'll leave it to God & Satan (((FRIES))) Fondly, Margie

Some suffer from anxiety which makes the question every move some are sheep following the masses and some are free spirited.
