Badgers

Badgers

A Poem by Neville
"

why make it more complicated than it already is....

"
Badgers

Nothing really is
that simple

Black and white
is what I mean

Except for badgers
maybe

Take my word, there
aint nothing in between

The same goes for penguins, dear Neville. There are no shades of grey with those little creatures, except when they are young balls of fluff, that is. There is nothing complicated about your poem. Black and white in reality though......a lot of complications there. Its a fine thought and well expressed with brevity and clarity. Much enjoyed! :))

But a significant thought, though, when you think of the fanatics of this world. To them, everything is either black or white. And if any badgers beg to differ, they'll blow their hindparts away with a Kalashnikov.

Yes indeed, but unfortunately, that's what we do best isn't it. I mean, what hope for a simpler, less complex world, when for whatever bizarre reason, there are now over five hundred breakfast cereals to choose from. :))

Giving me pause for thought as you often do.

Beccy.

black and white .... could mean so much.
on the surface it's a cute poem but of course it could be interpreted a number of ways including recent racial tensions in parts of US due to the death of george floyd at the hands of law enforcement officers whose role is to serve and protect

Even the name badgers works when you consider officers carry badgers

bang on ma'am... I must confess, I never thought of that.. but yes, it works :)
There are some cold, hard facts and there are some hard hitting things in black and white. Cut and dried. Take them at face value without attributing more to it. Yes, no point in complicating things.

To you too! Cheers! 🤗
Black and white. No shades of grey like our social distancing policy. Your badgers ignoring the advice, like many others seem to be doing. I enjoyed the humour here Neville. Your badgers must have been an absolute delight to watch this morning. The natural world has a way of making us forget the other stuff. Time well spent says I and a poem out of it as well.

my first sighting this year... only three of em .. just being badgers on my lawn, what else.. but clearly unaware of the perceived need for social distancing :)

Shall we invite the skunk to the black and white party? Funny, when that bit of black and white comes toddling in, things can get complicated pretty quickly. But the badger does indeed feel harmless enough, offering that bit of reassurance that simplicity may exist.

As animals ourselves I suppose we are always in search of the definiteness of simplicity. But delving a little find that nearly everything is as complex as the workings of our own minds, with very few easy answers. Like that tenuous moment when you accidentally sneak up on a skunk and see it turn its tail toward you in fear.

Always enjoy the way you say so much with saying a little, Neville. And let us see the idea open out for yourselves. Enjoyed your poem this morning. Hope all is well there with you and your family.
