I Shattered the Hour Glass

I Shattered the Hour Glass

A Poem by Nichole Juliet Hemstock
"

The most light hearted by far.:)

"
Upon many shelves
I saw the lives of lots
Time ticking slowly
I was thinking unnerving thoughts
I thought I"d pick one up
Just to see how it felt
But as I nudged the hourglass
Off the shelf it fell

It didn't just break
It was beyond all repair
I shattered the hourglass
It sat, just laying there
Should I sweep it up?
Try not to leave a trace?
But then I thought about
The life I just misplaced

Who was this person?
Who were they deep inside?
Inside the sand of the hourglass
The answer to my question lie
So I reached into the grains
Not expecting much
But what I really got
Was an exhilarating touch

I saw this man's life
Flash quickly before me
I can't explain his memories
Nor recall his stories

But the one thing I remember
Is the last thing that he said
It was "Remember me."
And then that man fell dead
