Cries About the Cabinet

Cries About the Cabinet

A Poem by Astro
"

A social commentary of the current political climate

"
We can feel the whole Earth shake
Each of us like rattling plates
Set upon a shelf to wait
Disposable should we break

Fragile souls all locked away
By the fools of modern day
A tragedy of their play
Never shall our fears allay

About our weak cabinet
That house of cards falsely set
Their blind trapeze sans a net
Where 'Change' hasn't happened yet

How long shall we serve buffoons?
Remain cups, saucers and spoons?
Slaves to a nation of goons?
Caught up in the tar typhoon?

You are preaching to the choir, Astro. The whole thing is a folly. Well said, man. Angi~

Thank you very much Angi. Nice to know the Choir is getting bigger.
i love the sort of comical, satire feel to this piece. really we are just serving a bunch of baffoons...sad really that our entire government has come to a point where absolutely nothing gets done because politicians have stopped trying to get things done. instead they focus on making sure nobody else gets anything done. ridiculous and pathetic. great work!

i apologize for my long absence but i'm excited to be back and reading your work!

"Buffoons" and "spoons"...haha...great, clever rhyming in this one.

Definitely a great metaphor here, and something that we should all be thinking on. How long, indeed, shall be "serve buffoons"? The political climate all across the world is feeling the noose tightening, and I can't help but think that we are all in for some big changes despite where we call home. Thought provoking...

it is universal my friend, I often say that if our beloved Politicians had to earn the same as your average Joe, 90% of them would not do that job.....ARE they in it for the money and power or do they really care about the community

Love this satirical piece Astro, even the pretty paper plates can't seem to make a dent in this battle against these buffoons, perhaps a smack over the head with real dinnerware is apropos.

Yep and I've plenty to spare, I've got tons from the dollar store just for such occasions. ;-)

Haha, and I can dance whilst I'm slamming those suckers too. ;-)
I vote for paper plates and plasticware. Astro I feel your frustration as we all know it far to well. It seems in Washington, no matter what "We the People" say, all they hear is, "keep the change." Nicely done my friend, excellent metaphors and like Girl Friday says...maybe it's time to shatter a few plates.
