Lost Glances Cut Deep

Lost Glances Cut Deep

A Poem by Jade-UH
"

This is about a dream I've had on numerous occasions, my mother the star.

"

Screams like thunder lay heavy on my chest

The ache in my throat vibrates through my body

And yet you never look at me

I’m hastily throwing objects past your head

The crash burns deep within me and shatters to the ground

And yet you never look at me

The world whirls around me fast and turning

Everything I know is falling apart, laying shards in my heart

And yet you never look at me

I’m right up against your face the sweat on your forehead touching mine

The sound barrier never breaks, but my lungs are ready to give

And yet you never look at me

Jolting, body twitching, I’m awake and in bed

I feel everything from that dream go through me like glass

And yet you never look at me

You never look at me, yet wonder who I am

Your motherly talents inadequate like your mother before you

And still you never look at me
