My Lady Snow

My Lady Snow

A Poem by Alice Walker
"

I wrote this when if snowed for the first time where I live this winter.

"
Snow falls to grace this world with its purity,
But its white splendor can never stay long enough.
With its beauty only lasting moments,
I slowly wish to be equal to the angelic purity.
Though the white beauty is cruel to us
As her beauty is nearly beyond compare,
She chills the bones of my ancestors.
From her temperamental chill to her harsh winds,
I still see her eternal beauty.
I see the purity that drew my eyes,
Still grabbing my attention and stunning me
With its inner splendor and love.
That's why I love the snow.
Even for her cruelty and harsh wonders,
She is still pure and beautiful in my eyes.

I enjoyed this read. The poem expressed what most must feel about this natural wonder and still it is unique and simple. I liked how you glanced back in history without losing step. Cheers!!
