A Poem by Sky

Build a house inside you, where none exist around

With rooms for every sorrow, every joy from then and now

Spare nothing on materials, on labor, or on guild

Raise the walls with every haste, or crumble down they will

Lock misery of this in one room and throw away the key

Or keep it, if you feel you must, just give it not to me

I can’t be bothered to remember where lightly I should walk

Or which rooms are better left closed tightly with a lock

Now lather, rinse, repeat again till all is out of sight

And smile for me, darling, your anger only sparks a fight

Your emotion’s safer kept inside; I won’t have to see it then

But tell me all your passions, hopes, your struggles, and your sin

I really want to know you, trust me, I really do

Just don’t force me to reckon with the ways I’ve damaged you
