This is my World

This is my World

A Poem by Annique le Roux
"

Who says it isn't?

"
This is my world.
Nothing isn't what it is,
because everything is what it isn't.
In my world,
red vines sprout from window boxes
which cast yellow shadows
in the whiteness of nothing
and everything.
In my world,
pink tortoises
with black-spotted green shells
wander here and there,
through puddles of orange juice,
munching quietly on the
glistening blue leaves
sported by the vines.
The roaring of multi-coloured bees
is heard as they fly to the
inky black flowers dotting
the purple mountainside.
Oozing droplets of dark nectar
float among the patches of
cloud as they swirl
into green patterns
which colour the negative spaces
of white ink.
In my world,
blue arrows point,
and circles are not.
Books with silver writing
speak in symbols
which mean both
something and almost nothing.
Hourglasses with golden sand
which runs sideways,
measure time that isn't.
Who can question what I have said?
For this is my world and not theirs.
And here, nothing isn't what it is,
because everything is what it isn't.
