Casting A Shadow

Casting A Shadow

A Poem by Working Class Scarecrow

1.

It’s because I’ve been so rational

I have trouble

stepping out

of myself

at times.

most times.

which is not to say

that I don’t want to

I just forget that I’m not

ya know?

2.

You were supposed to remind me

of the lessons we were

re-remembering on that rooftop at dawn.

and I was supposed to remember that

I don’t actually need someone to do that

oh yeah.

that’s right.

here it is again.

The gilded eyebrow.

The docile art.

The framed eclectic.

The subjective objection.

3.

It’s not like there was time wasted

unless you believe

in that sort of thing

4.

Despite anyone’s best efforts

I just clenched my jaw

and let my palms sweat

for a very long time.

Mostly out of uncertainty.

Uncertainty of what?

Well that’s a question with a self-fulfilling prophecy built right in.

Aren’t you glad we live in the age of convenience?

The near emptiness of the atom

reflected in the ever expanding

entropy of the Universe

as well as the obsolete paradigm

of postmodern society.

This is the 21st century

5.

Meditation

Free

On Tuesdays

6.

Collective subconscious static….

the only logic I’m finding true enough for my circumstance.

7.

I’ve forgotten my senses

the constant hiss/hum of speakers is cut off

suddenly I’m breathing again.

I’ve been out of touch it seems.

I’m working on a revival.

I suppose a cup is in order.

at least one.

after all, it’s only 2.

8.

Photons carry heat

Exciting

clusters of consciousness

Ethereal Ascension

condensed in the

atmosphere

9.

Brushing crumbs of

space-time circumstance

from the beard of

the big picture.
