One Night in May

One Night in May

A Poem by Working Class Scarecrow

On the way back
to your place
we caught the
last train
spring was in the air

The stars were shining
the streets lights blinding
but i had come prepared

and I pulled you
by your hand into
the center of the street

one of us on each side of
the double yellow line
you didn't mind
at least you didn't say anything

and sometimes when
we walk
our foot steps seem
to synch up

your hand in mine
i close my eyes
and it's like there's only
one of us

and I pulled you
by your hand into
the center of the street

one of us on each side of
the double yellow line
you didn't mind
at least you didn't say anything
