When I Wake Up In The Morning

When I Wake Up In The Morning

A Poem by Arizona Hidalgo-Crowe

When I wake up in the morning every day,

I hear the happy birds singing and chirping in the trees,

Crows are calling out my name as I stand by the window,

Church bells are ringing in the pleasant morning peace,

When I wake up in the morning.... Happy music fills my mind with motivation,

All the delightful sounds make me want to start my day,

The sun shines down on my dark brown hair as I get ready for the day,

When I wake up in the morning...everything is boosting my confidence,

calling out to me saying "Zona, get up and do whatever you desire."

It's exciting for me to wake up in the morning,

with a smile on my face everytime,

remembering everyday that I am visually impaired,

I say to myself "I can beat my visual impairment, and do what I want."

saying that keeps the bright smile on my face,

My last words to you are: Good Morning!
