Give Peace a Chance
(December 8th, 1980)

10:50 pm, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG in the cold dark night.
This Boy, an idol falls down in front of the Dakota Building entrance.
Happy Xmas (War Is Over),
The music died that night with the legend
Mother, this was a man of peace and brotherly love.
Ask Me Why,
Who would do such a thing?
Imagine, a faceless nobody named Mark David Chapman.
Power to the People,
Why did he do it?
Jealous Guy:
Chapman didn’t want to be a nobody, so he shot our idol
Mind Games,
It doesn’t make sense!
(Just Like) Starting Over,
A wife without a husband and two sons without a father.
#9 Dream,
He walked away to the pearly white gates at 11:07 pm, you know?
Stand by Me
No funeral, just food for the hungry golden yellow flames.
Whatever Gets You thru the Night
His widow kept the ashes.
Woman Is the N****r of the World, she was blamed for breaking up the Fab Four.
Woman, now, you can’t help but feel sorry for her that day.
“You Can’t Do That! It’s not fair! It’s just not fair!”
Instant Karma!
The music died that night with the legend.
Love, it’s all ironic really.
Nobody Told Me, they all treated him like a criminal for the last few years of his life
I'm Stepping Out, he felt safe in NYC two days before the music died
Borrowed Time
“I'll probably be popped off by some loony.”

Such a sad day I
heard about this
very tragic indeed.

But how things
are ones with a
mental illness or
isn't stable should
never have a gun.

it was jealousy many
say but I think the
shooter was in love
with his wife I heard
that story also.

But when this
happened I was
just 1 years old
in 1980.

I love the Beatles
all of them my mom's
a wallflower free spirit
but life seems simpler
when you're little.

This is a good poem.
The death of John Lennon is a tragic one indeed, Noiz. It is understood, however, that Mr. Chapman was a fan, not a hater, and that he had done cocaine. Anyone who does cocaine is capable of any bad thing.

While I don't know the essentials, that alone would be enough reason for someone to kill someone else. Tragic for John Lennon, Mr. Chapman then pleaded insanity, and with his record of mental illness, I believe it was accepted.

I am still a firm believer that guns kill people, not people in themselves. Guns are far too easily accessible and used in the heat of a moment.
