Time is an Enigma

Time is…..Past, Present, Future, Forever.

We say it’s of the essence  -  yet where’s it’s taste or smell?

There are hands of Time, but never legs

Yet it marches on quite well.

And another small anomaly, which will always irritate

Is that we say that Time has length,

But no width,  or depth, or weight.

And, as for our baser instincts

We can even dare

To beat Time,  lose Time, sometimes even kill Time

But, Time is always there.

 

And then exception proves the rule

In a way that’s quite sublime

 For when someone says…. Do you think you could……?.                  

That’s when there isn’t any time

'.. wich will always irritate ~ Is that we say that Time has length, ~ But no width, or depth, or weight. ' How very true is that.. apparently. Made me laugh! Time's always fascinated me, mainly cos it's there but invisible.. could be creepy but is, surely, a very welcome visitor?

I agree, So much time is spent procrastinating
by our " leaďers" that meaningful results are often never forthcoming.

The attributes we assign to time (and many other things) sometimes don't fit so well. When young, I wanted time to pass quickly and always thought there was too much of it in front of me. Now, I wish I'd savored every second of its slow parade. Just think, Norm--if we were Redwoods, we'd still be in diapers. Good writing, my friend. It makes me think.

Thanks Jacob. I wonder whether this discourse could be translated into Other languages. I'm sure English must be unique in devising so similes for Time. Perhaps we can find the origins somewhere in a hidden passage:-)

Thanks Sam. I have photo of myself as a baby with my.parents. I looked so miserable I feel sure that growing old has cheered me up immensely.
It hasn't improved my typing skills though. ( See my comments to Jacob's review)
