WE'RE JUST FRIENDS

WE'RE JUST FRIENDS

A Poem by Jaja Reigns

"We're just friends," we said.

But behind all that, there are eyes that don't lie.

With countless I love you's,

tight hugs and forehead kisses.

Hands intertwined, my head over your shoulder.

We may deny it, but actions can't hide;

There's something going on between us.

with daily updates and a dampened smile.

Late night talks and our petty fights

There was confusion. I was confused too.

Nonetheless, the discussions were avoided.

because it might get complicated.

We settled for it, and just let it slip.

Half a year has passed.

How long will this hide and seek last?

Feelings change, love fades.

But I still chose to stay.

If this were to end,

What are we ending, exactly?

Friendship we built or this feelings we seek?

I don't know. I just don't want this to end.

Yet the light on the other side of the tunnel is now visible.

They asked, "What are we?" I paused and reminisced.

With all the laughs, tears and everything in between,

I smiled and said "We're just Friends"
