The Elephant in the Room

The Elephant in the Room

A Poem by Number51
"

What happens when I start something without having an ending and it just doesn't come to me.

"
The elephant in the room
Was all alone
At the party
Because no one
Would address him

The elephant in the room
Sipped away
At his glass
Of spiked punch
Until he got
A bit tipsy

The elephant in the room
Got up
From his corner
And addressed
The room

Why will none of you
Come talk to me?
The elephant in the room
Cried out

Well
Started Fred Fish
(Who was hosting
The party)
You're kind of
A flaming a*s

Yeah
Said Susie Salamander
(Fred's wife)
Do you remember
Last year
At the Christmas ball
When you got up on
The table
And broke it?

And then
At my wedding
Reception
Added in Joey Jackrabbit
(Who was married
To Fred's
Sister)
You sat on
The cake
Then got drunk
And set the church
On fire

Really
Said Fred Fish
You're just
An unpleasant
Person

Oh
Said the elephant
In the room

And then he
Downed his last glass
Of spiked punch
And stampeded his way
Through the room
Squishing all
The people
At the party

I can't tell you exactly why, but I loved this piece. It was funny, and it just made sense (in that nonsensical kinda way). Fun read.
